Televisa network should grow up and stop being racist.

Comedy can only go so far, no comedian or show should ever do brown face and black face, it is gross, ugly and racist.

Recently Televisa’s star Yeka Rosales made fun of indigenous Mexican actress Yalitza Aparicio by wearing brown face and a prosthetic nose for a comedy skit.

I understand that an actor/comedians job is to get into character but there is no need to mock someone by making yourself appear dirty and poor. There should be no question whether or not the act was rude and racist.

Reverse racism is real and some minorities can be racist toward each other. It makes no sense why someone of Spanish descent would need to put on brownface when they are already brown.

The network knows that what they did is wrong and needs to stop saying they do not “condone any racial acts.” If that were true why would they soon delete a video of Rosales mimicking Aparicio?

Aparicio has been made fun of by many Mexican actors for being indigenous and it seems like haters just can’t get enough and accept the fact that she made it and is here to say. No one as humble as Aparicio should be given so much hate.

This falls into latinos not supporting and congratulating each other. When will we decide to make a change and stop with the bullying?

Multiple professors have come out to say that the Mexican elite has always put down indigenous people and portrayed them as “ugly” and “poor.”

It is disgusting that a network like Televisa is profiting from things like brown face and calling people poor. Our society has become so used to Latino stereotypes that no one sees it as wrong.

Rosales needs to stop defending her wrong actions and understand that her skits are not funny and hurtful. Alejandro Olmos, Televisa’s spokesman needs to grow up and say sorry, that’s all, that one word would show to people that the network understands what they did was wrong. Instead of taking out “bad taste” comments and skits that don’t air they should not film those racist and disrespectful scenes in the first place.
